Graduates who complete the programme of study have acquired the learning outcomes specified in Resolution No. 34/III/2012 adopted by the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on 28th March 2012 on the introduction of learning outcomes for particular fields of study conducted at the Jagiellonian University as of the 2012/2013 academic year, with later amendments. Graduates hold the following qualifications as regards knowledge, skills, and social competences: KNOWLEDGE - knows the history of the most important theatre forms, knows how to differentiate past and modern genres and conventions of staging, knows and understands differences between various styles of acting of the past, knows the most important theories of acting - has basic knowledge about theatre-related institutions (theatres, festivals, specialists journals and magazines, regular TV and radio programmes on modern theatre, Internet publications), knows and understand basic principles of copyright laws. - has some knowledge of the most important aspects of modern theatre, understands the difference between dramatic, non-dramatic and post-dramatic theatre; knows the basic notions used in performance studies. - has some knowledge of the history of Polish and world drama, knows important Polish and foreign dramas of the past, understands the notion of the drama genre. - knows the most important theories of drama and key texts characteristic for particular epochs, trends and theatre conventions. - understands various links among different artistic disciplines that a theatre piece is composed of, has some knowledge of the history of art and artistic styles of various epochs. - knows the specific character of particular types of cultural performances and recognizes relations among them SKILLS - is able to remember and describe important elements/aspects of the spectacle that he/she watched; skillfully interprets the spectacle as a whole and its parts - is able to use foreign language vocabulary related to theatre and arts on the B2 level (as set by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), is able to apply his/her language skills to using foreign-language research materials and to presenting the effects of his/her own work - is able to effectively read and interpret not only literary texts (drama and other types) but also academic text on theatre - he/she has some basic understanding of directing and acting, which he/she learned at workshops - is able to interpret various text of culture - is able to recognize theatricalness in everyday life and analyze different types of performativity - is able to search for information, prepare bibliography on the subject or issue of his/her choice, using either traditional sources of information (books, journals, bibliographical indices) or electronic resources (electronic libraries, data bases, recordings, etc.) - is able to plan and write a diploma dissertation under the guidance of the supervisor and to prepare oral presentation on a given subject SOCIAL COMPETENCES - is aware of the importance of working on developing and propagating an interest in theatre among people who are not related to it professionally - shows some interest in new developments and trends in theatre and related arts - reads about, watches and is interested in what is going on in contemporary theatre, is interested in the impact of theatre arts on their cultural context - is ready to exchange views and is open to various (including those that are different from his/her own) ways of seeing, understanding and interpreting theatre arts - understands the value of a subjective view on theatre arts and an equal status of their different interpretations - is ready to embrace organization work related to preparing various events that belomg to the life of theatre - is able to see and analyze various aspects of theatricalness and performativity of social life
