Fulfilment of the study curriculum guarantees acquirement of the learning outcomes specified in Resolution No. 2/I/2013 ratified by the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on 30th January 2013 concerning the introduction of learning outcomes for particular fields of study conducted at the Jagiellonian University as of the 2013/2014 academic year, with later amendments. Graduates hold the following qualifications as regards knowledge, skills, and social competences: KNOWLEDGE Basic knowledge of the character, role and significance of social science and humanities, as well as their subjective and methodological specificity in the system of science. Basic knowledge of various types of social structures and institutions in Asia. Basic knowledge of relations between social structures and institutions in Asia. Basic knowledge of a human being as the constitutive subject of social structures in Asia. A well-organised knowledge regarding methodology of social science and humanities required in order to undertake Asian studies. A well-organised knowledge of relations between areas of science and scientific disciplines which enable undertaking studies on Asia. Knowledge and comprehension of basic analysis and interpretation methods of various cultural products of Asian societies. Awareness of the integral character of Asian cultural heritage in its modern products. Knowledge of the change processes of structures, value systems, institutions as well as types of social ties in Asia. Knowledge as well as comprehension of basic terms and rules of the industrial property protection and copyright law. Ability to acquire a specialist knowledge. SKILLS Basic abilities to search for, critically assess, analyse as well as apply information from various sources. Ability to recognize as well as apply theoretical knowledge in order to perform a critical analysis of the realities of a given region of Asia. Ability to comprehend, analyse as well as interpret specific social phenomena characteristic of a given region of Asia. Basic research abilities which involve defining as well as categorizing of a problem, selection of research methods and instruments, working out and presentation of outcomes, which enable the graduate to solve problems in relations between the East and the West. Ability to forecast social processes, taking into consideration political, economic and demographic phenomena which influence an experience of a human being in the age of globalisation. Recognition of products of the Asian culture as well as ability to interpret them particularly on the basis of key normative systems of specific cultures. Comprehension as well as ability to analyse proposed solutions of social problems of a given region of Asia. Basic communication-related skills applied in order to animate processes of comprehension, dialogue, cooperation and intercultural exchange between societies of the East and the West. Ability to prepare as well as present in Polish typical written studies and projects regarding detailed issues within the scope of the humanities and social sciences, including the possibility of their application in practice. Ability to prepare as well as give oral speeches in Polish regarding detailed issues, applying basic theoretical approaches and variety of sources. Comprehension of ethical dimensions of both analysed issues and the discipline of science, as well as ability to apply the acquired knowledge in order to solve dilemmas which occur in his/her professional activity. Linguistic skills regarding the areas of science and scientific disciplines related to the completed field of studies, in accordance with requirements stated for the level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Linguistic skills regarding an Oriental language at least on the level B2. Ability to acquire specialist skills. SOCIAL COMPETENCES Comprehension and recognition of development challenges of his/her role as well as constant improvement of knowledge and skills. A specified vision of the profession acquired, its role, priorities and character in the context of challenges and dilemmas of modern world. Awareness of the significance of cultural value in Asia as well as human dignity on various levels of social reality. Ability to participate in preparation of social projects, taking into consideration economic and political aspects of the East and the West. Participation in social and cultural life in the intercultural space, presenting adequate level of communication competences and applying modern instruments of the media civilization. Ability to think and act in an entrepreneurial way, acting as a mediator, animator and consultant in the international cooperation within the scope of culture and economy between societies of the East and the West.
