Professional status:

Thanks to an extended knowledge of an international environment, participants of international relations and relations between them, both political and economic situation in the wold, as well as of historical and cultural context of international relations, a graduate is able to analyse a changing international reality. A graduate can prepare reports, as well as analysis regarding international relations, both in writing and verbally, in Polish and in a foreign language. Thanks to a theoretical and factual knowledge a graduate can forecast changes in an international environment as well as their influence on particular participants of international relations. A graduate applies a specialist language, characteristic of the area of international relations. A graduate collects, selects and assesses information without prejudice to copyright. He/she is prepared to manage small work-teams. Thanks to obtained knowledge and skills he/she is able to make decisions aiming at solving issues in a professional activity. Knowledge of ethical principles is applied. A graduate is prepared to undertake research challenges, as well as to the process of lifelong learning and professional development. A graduate is prepared to be employed in public offices and institutions related to contemporary international relations, institutions of the European Union as well as in international finance institutions. A graduate has both knowledge and competences regarding practice, development of international strategies (political as well as economic) and management of development projects in various parts of the world.

Graduates who complete the programme of study have acquired the learning outcomes specified in Resolution No. 34/III/2012 adopted by the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on 28th March 2012 on the introduction of learning outcomes for particular fields of study conducted at the Jagiellonian University as of the 2012/2013 academic year, with later amendments. Graduates hold the following qualifications as regards knowledge, skills, and social competences: KNOWLEDGE - An advanced level of knowledge on the social sciences - An advanced level of knowledge of the research methodology for international relations - An advanced level of knowledge of the evolution of international relations - An advance level of knowledge on the political events and processes which bear an effect on the international sphere - An advanced level of knowledge on the economic processes which bear an effect on international relations - An advanced level of knowledge of the social processes which bear an effect on international relations - An advanced level of knowledge on the effects of the geographical and natural environment on international relations - An advanced level of knowledge on the participants in international relations and their mutual relations - An advanced level of knowledge on the position and role of international institutions in the contemporary world - An advanced level of knowledge of the normative and evaluative systems which have an effect on international relations - An advanced level of knowledge of the essence and operation of international law SKILLS - Ability to make proficient use of the methodology applicable to research on international relations - Ability to identify the relations between the various component parts of the international system - Ability to analyse complex phenomena in international relations - Ability to forecast the development of complex processes in international relations - Ability to apply the normative systems associated with international law proficiently - Ability to apply his/her knowledge of international law to analyse phenomena in the international sphere - Ability to compile a written paper at the advanced level on issues in international relations - Ability to compile an oral presentation at the advanced level on issues in international relations - Ability to communicate in a foreign language, using the terminology applicable to international relations, at the B2+ proficiency level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages SOCIAL COMPETENCES - Ability to follow current developments in international relations and comment on them publicly - Ability to present the various opinions concerning issues in international relations during a discussion - Ability to work in a team on complex source research relating to international relations - Ability to work in a team conducting complex analyses on specific phenomena in international relations - Ability to work in a team conducting a study on complex issues connected with the operation of international law - Ability to work in a team conducting a complex study on the effects of social and economic phenomena on international relations - Ability to work in a team to prepare a presentation of a complex issue in international relations and deliver it in public - Ability to organise and manage a research team.
