Professional status:

A graduate obtained knowledge of economic, social, legal as well as political sciences, allowing cognition as well as comprehension of mechanisms of functioning of international relations and global economy. A graduate can analyse national issues in the international perspective. He/she obtained skills regarding communication, negotiation and persuasion. A graduate is prepared to be employed: •as an analyst or middle manager both in government administration and in self-government administration; •in international or national organisations and institutions cooperating with foreign countries; •in enterprises operating on international markets. Thanks to interdisciplinary education a graduate is prepared to be employed also in institutions indirectly connected to international relations. A graduate is prepared to enrol to second cycle studies.

Graduates who complete the programme of study have acquired the learning outcomes specified in Resolution No. 34/III/2012 adopted by the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on 28th March 2012 on the introduction of learning outcomes for particular fields of study conducted at the Jagiellonian University as of the 2012/2013 academic year, with later amendments. Graduates hold the following qualifications as regards knowledge, skills, and social competences: KNOWLEDGE - A general scope of foundation knowledge of the social sciences - Foundation knowledge of research on international relations - Foundation knowledge of the research methodology for on international relations - A full appreciation of the essence and specific features of international relations - Foundation knowledge of the evolution of international relations - Knowledge of the essence and specific features of the international system - Knowledge of the main political processes in the international system - Knowledge of the main social and economic phenomena which determine the evolution of the internatinal system - Knowledge on the participants in international relations - Knowledge of the normative and evaluative systems which have an effect on international relations - Appreciation of the specific features of international public law, and a knowledge of its principles - Knowledge of the foundations of the EU legal system SKILLS - Ability to apply the basic methodology applicable to research on international relations - Ability to apply the terminology of research on international relations correctly - Ability to understand the nature of the basic processes in international relations - Ability to correctly evaluate the evolution and prospects for the main processes in international relations - Ability to identify the nature of specific developments in international relations - Appreciation of the significance and complexity of the social phenomena which bear an effect on international relations - Ability to apply the normative system of international law in practical analysis - Ability to compile a simple written paper on issues in international relations - Ability to compile a simple oral presentation on issues in international relations - Ability to communicate in a foreign language, using the terminology applicable to international relations, at the B2+ proficiency level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages SOCIAL COMPETENCES - Ability to follow current developments in international relations and comment on them in public - Ability to present the various opinions concerning issues in international relations during a discussion - Ability to work in a team on simple source research relating to international relations - Ability to work in a team conducting simple analyses on particular issues in international relations - Ability to work in a team conducting a study on issues connected with the operation of international law - Ability to work in a team conducting a study on the effect of social and economic phenomena on international relations - Ability to work in a team to prepare a presentation on a simple issue in international relations and deliver it in public - Ability to organise and manage a research team
