Graduates who complete the programme of study have acquired the learning outcomes specified in Resolution No. 34/III/2012 adopted by the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on 28th March 2012 on the introduction of learning outcomes for particular fields of study conducted at the Jagiellonian University as of the 2012/2013 academic year, with later amendments. Graduates hold the following qualifications as regards knowledge, skills, and social competences: KNOWLEDGE: - a well-ordered and advanced knowledge regarding terminology within the scope of cultural studies, knowledge of theories, paradigms as well as methodologies of research in cultural studies - a detailed knowledge of the place and meaning of cultural studies in the system of humanities, as well as of subjective and methodological specificity of cultural studies - a detailed specialist knowledge of theories of culture as well as of research methods of cultural studies, adequate to selected areas of research - an extended knowledge as well as comprehension of assumptions, origins and implications of main directions and schools in the development of cultural studies together with their interdisciplinary applications - knowledge of the main directions of development as well as of key new achievements within the scope of cultural studies and related disciplines - an advanced knowledge as well as comprehension of methods of analysis and interpretation of various products of culture, taking into consideration distinct levels of their integration together with correlations appropriate for selected traditions, as well as means of their appliance - knowledge and comprehension of basic notions and principles of copyright and intellectual property protection - an advanced awareness of a complex character of culture and language, as well as of their variability in the course of history - knowledge, comprehension as well as ability to identify and research aspects together with the meaning both of cultural heritage and cultural identities - a basic knowledge of institutions of culture as well as of contemporary cultural life SKILLS - ability to independently search for, analyse, assess, select and apply information, applying variety of sources, as well as express critical opinions on that basis - an advanced research ability, involving analysing works of other authors, synthesising variety of ideas and views, selecting methods and designing research instruments, leading to original solutions of complex problems within the scope of areas of science as well disciplines of science related to cultural studies - ability to comprehend, analyse and study specific cultural and social phenomena in their multifaceted nature - ability to recognize as well as to make a critical judgement and apply a theoretical knowledge in order to carry out an independent and advanced analysis of a specific cultural reality in the perspective of interdisciplinary research - ability to acquire knowledge on his/her own, as well as to develop it creatively; ability to extend research skills and undertake activities in order to develop abilities - ability to apply contemporary theoretical approaches, research paradigms as well as notions related to cultural studies, in order to carry out original analysis of cultural phenomena and synthetic summaries - ability to recognize as well as to perform a critical analysis of elements of cultural heritage and symbolic systems of selected cultures, ability to determine the meaning of products of culture and their place in the historic and cultural process - ability to recognize various types of products of culture, as well as perform their critical and original analysis and interpretation in accordance with directives of theoretical and methodological research perspectives, appropriate for cultural studies - ability to integrate knowledge related to various disciplines within the scope of humanities - ability to prepare papers as well as speeches in Polish and in a foreign language - linguistic abilities according to demands stated for level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages SOCIAL COMPETENCES - comprehension and recognition of development challenges as well as permanent improvement of knowledge and skills - ability to cooperate in a team, acting in various roles, ability to organise as well as perform tasks on his/her own - ability to think and act creatively, creating his/her path of professional career - ability to recognize, assess as well as undertake social roles in various areas of personal and - professional activity, acting in accordance with principles of professional ethics - awareness of the role of cultural heritage of his/her state, as well as of other cultural areas - participation in cultural life in a variety of its forms, using various media; a graduate is interested in current cultural, political, social and artistic events
