Graduates who complete the programme of study have acquired the learning outcomes specified in Resolution No. 34/III/2012 adopted by the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on 28th March 2012 on the introduction of learning outcomes for particular fields of study conducted at the Jagiellonian University as of the 2012/2013 academic year, with later amendments. Graduates hold the following qualifications as regards knowledge, skills, and social competences: KNOWLEDGE Basic knowledge of the character, role and significance of humanities and social sciences, as well as their subjective and methodological specificity in the system of science. Basic knowledge of a human being as the constitutive subject of the culture, social structures and rules of their functioning. A well-organised knowledge regarding theory and methodology of cultural sciences. Knowledge of basic terminology of humanities and social sciences. A well-organised knowledge and comprehension regarding assumptions of main directions and schools in the development of cultural sciences and their interdisciplinary applications. Knowledge and comprehension of basic analysis and interpretation methods of various cultural products specific to selected traditions, as well as methods of their use. Basic knowledge of structure and functions of medial culture and medial civilisation systems. Awareness of the complex nature of symbolic culture in its historical contexts. Identification of cultural products specific to the selected region and their interpretation from the perspective of the chosen specialization. Knowledge, comprehension and ability to identify manifestations and significance of cultural heritage, cultural identity as well as their transformations in the modern world. Basic knowledge of social and cultural structures and institutions as well as their relationships in the modern world on the national, international and intercultural scale. Knowledge of processes concerning cultural interactions in the realities of specific groups and organizations. Knowledge of processes concerning change of structures, systems of values, types of personalities and mentalities, institutions and types of social ties in the process of cultural changes. Knowledge as well as comprehension of basic terms and rules of the industrial property protection and copyright law. SKILLS Basic abilities to search for, critically assess, analyse as well as apply information from various sources. Linguistic skills which enable the graduate to perform studies in the field of humanities and social sciences, taking into consideration the language of studied cultures as an essential element of enculturation, in accordance with requirements stated for the level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Ability to understand, analyse and interpret specific cultural, religious and social phenomena (including political, legal and economic ones). Ability to recognize as well as apply theoretical knowledge in order to perform an independent and critical analysis of a specific cultural reality. Basic research abilities which involve defining as well as categorizing a problem, selection of research methods and instruments, working out and presentation of outcomes, which enable the graduate to solve real problems of social and cultural world. Ability to forecast cultural processes, taking into consideration political, economic and demographic phenomena which influence an experience of a human being in the age of globalisation. Recognition and interpretation of core values of cultural heritage and key normative systems of specific cultural groups with their symbolic products. Ability to recognize the nature of key challenges arising in the process of cultural interactions as well as proposals of practical ways to solve them. Basic communication-related skills applied in order to animate processes of comprehension, dialogue, cooperation and intercultural exchange. Ability to plan, prepare as well as communicate in Polish typical studies and projects regarding detailed issues within the scope of the humanities and social sciences, including the possibility of their application in practice. Comprehension of ethical dimensions of both analysed issues and the discipline of science, as well as ability to apply the acquired knowledge in order to solve dilemmas which occur in his/her professional activity. SOCIAL COMPETENCES Awareness of the responsibility and significance of cultural values as well as human dignity on various levels of social reality. A specified vision of the profession acquired, its role, priorities and character in the context of socio-cultural challenges and dilemmas of modern world. Ability to recognize responsibly, as well as to value and undertake social roles in various fields of personal and professional activities. Ability to participate in preparation of social and cultural projects, taking into consideration legal, economic and political aspects. Participation in social and cultural life in the intercultural space, presenting adequate level of communication competences and applying modern instruments of the medial civilization. Ability to think and act in an entrepreneurial way, acting as a mediator, animator and consultant in the dialogue and intercultural cooperation.
