Graduates who complete the programme of study have acquired the learning outcomes specified in Resolution No. 34/III/2012 adopted by the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on 28th March 2012 on the introduction of learning outcomes for particular fields of study conducted at the Jagiellonian University as of the 2012/2013 academic year, with later amendments. Graduates hold the following qualifications as regards knowledge, skills, and social competences: KNOWLEDGE - An advanced knowledge of at least one selected branch of Computer Science: Software Engineering, Algorithmics, Applied Computer Science, Theoretical Foundations of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Modelling and Control, Computer Mathematics; - An advanced knowledge of higher mathematics within the scope necessary to master his/her selected specialisation in Computer Science; - Knowledge of the fundamental laws and theorems of mathematics and ability to apply them in the analysis and modelling of problems in his/her specialisation in Computer Science; - An advanced knowledge of the modern languages and paradigms of programming; - Knowledge of the advanced analytical and modelling techniques characteristic for his/her selected branches of Computer Science; - An advanced knowledge of the algorithms and data structures applied to solve problems in his/her specialisation in Computer Science; - Knowledge of general tools for computer science professionals, and the specific tools associated with his/her selected discipline in Computer Science; - A practical and advanced knowledge of the design and implementation of IT projects conducted individually and collectively; - Knowledge of the contemporary development trends and scientific achievements in his/her selected branches of Computer Science; - Knowledge of the fundamental principles of safety and hygiene at work for an IT professional; - Basic knowledge of the social aspects of Computer Science and Information Technology, and the ethical and legal issues associated with an IT profession; - An advanced knowledge on the protection of intellectual property and personal responsibility for his/her actions. SKILLS - Advanced skills of applying mathematics to formulate, analyse, and solve Computer Science tasks; - Ability to construct and present mathematical reasoning; - Advanced analytical skills of solving problems in his/her selected branch of Computer Science, starting with a precise formulation and assessment of its complexity, through its specifications, determination of potential solutions and their assessment, to the choice of a final solution and the details of its implementation; - Ability to design, model, analyse, and apply computer systems from his/her selected branches of Computer Science; - Advanced skills of developing, implementing, and verifying IT projects, both individually and in teamwork; - Proficiency in several modern programming languages; ability to use advanced programming paradigms; - Ability to find solutions on his/her own to problems at each stage in the development and implementation of IT projects; - Ability to apply advanced tools and technologies in his/her selected disciplines of Computer Science; - Ability to select effective algorithms and data structures for the design of solutions to problems in his/her selected branch of Computer Science; - Ability to collect information from documentation, professional/scientific literature, the internet, and other reliable sources; integrate and interpret them; and on this basis draw conclusions and formulate an opinion; - Ability to present new developments in his/her selected branches of Computer Science, using language which is easy to understand; - Ability to discuss issues in Computer Science and develop his/her own critical opinion on new developments in his/her selected disciplines of Computer Science; - Ability to define the path of his/her further scientific and professional development, and determine the way in which it will be achieved; - Advanced skills of writing scientific papers in Polish and a foreign language on detailed problems and issues in Computer Science; in particular the ability to compile a coherent dissertation on a selected, detailed subject; - Advanced skills of compiling an oral presentation in Polish and in a foreign language on detailed problems and issues in Computer Science and their applications in his/her selected disciplines; - Proficiency in English at the B2+ intermediate level. SOCIAL COMPETENCES - Appreciation of the need for continuing, lifelong education to update his/her knowledge and keep abreast of civilisational changes; - Appreciation of the continuing need to enhance and upgrade his/her knowledge, in particular by reading new publications on Computer Science and the documentation of new products; - Ability to formulate precise questions to help him/her understand the given subject better and more fully; - Capacity for teamwork, carrying out a variety of tasks in the team; appreciation of the need for systematic work in long-term projects; - Awareness of the ethical, legal, and social aspects of computerisation; and ability to observe the principles associated with them in his/her professional activities; - Ability to think and act in an enterprising manner.
