Graduates are qualified to work in all kinds of media, publishing houses, advertising agencies. Those who got qualifications are allowed to teach in all types of schools except institutions of higher education.

Holders of so called "old Matura" certificate: the average of the grades for Polish language, mathematics and a foreign language indicated on the secondary school last year certificate. Holders of so called "new Matura" certificate: the average of the grades for obligatory subjects (Polish language, a foreign language, and an additional subject - written examination, basic level) indicated on the Matura certificate.

Graduates who complete the programme of study have acquired the learning outcomes specified in Resolution No. 34/III/2012 adopted by the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on 28th March 2012 on the introduction of learning outcomes for particular fields of study conducted at the Jagiellonian University as of the 2012/2013 academic year, with later amendments. Graduates hold the following qualifications as regards knowledge, skills, and social competences: KNOWLEDGE basic knowledge of audio-visual culture research methodology knowledge of basic terminology for Humanities applied in film studies and media studies related to cultural studies knowledge as well as comprehension of key circumstances and context of historical and cultural processes in the 20th and 21st century basic knowledge of respective areas of artistic culture (particularly artistic culture of the 20th and 21st century) knowledge of the most important, contemporary research directions and concepts within the scope of film studies and media studies related to cultural studies basic knowledge of relations between language and culture (particularly the audio-visual culture) knowledge of the history of film – from the silent film to contemporary film knowledge of the history of Polish film knowledge of the history of film theory knowledge of basic methods and notions of analysis of film as well as messages created by new media basic knowledge of the history of audio-visual media awareness of the continuity of cultural practices performed within various media platforms knowledge of methodological basis of film and TV genetics knowledge of technical skills of a film maker: film editing, image production and screenplay writing knowledge of cultural contexts of video games and their place towards other audio-visual media as well as traditional arts comprehension of the idea of computer data processing as well as knowledge of basic types of relations built by software appliance knowledge of legal provisions regarding intellectual property as well as specific provisions of copyright law regarding makers of audio-visual works of art knowledge of basic principles of operation of institutions of culture within the scope of cinema and audio-visual media basic knowledge of means of participation in culture from the point of view of media institutions operation SKILLS ability to use scientific resources of Internet as well as apply instruments of searching and exchanging information and instruments of online communication ability to search for as well as apply, for scientific and professional purposes, information from traditional non-Internet sources ability to create on his/her own a base of film science and media science data ability to apply various instruments and notions in his/her analytical practice regarding film and audio-visual media ability to prepare a paper (as well as a speech) both in Polish and in English on a topic related to film studies or media studies related to culture studies, applying key scientific categories of those disciplines ability to recognize pivotal cultural and historic processes (particularly those in the 20th and 21st century) as well as place them in a wider context of a collective human activity ability to recognize links between respective disciplines of arts as well as their mutual relations and influence on film and other audio-visual arts ability to recognize the most important works of art as well as genre traditions, styles and poetics of a silent film, classic film, new wave film and contemporary film ability to analyse and interpret the most important films regarding Polish culture, as well as point out their cultural and historical contexts ability to apply basic notions as well as terminology which are used in order to describe cyber-culture and new phenomena of online culture basic abilities to provide a film screenplays as well as some other media broadcast screenplays ability to assess a film or other media broadcast projects from the point of view of copyright law as well as production and distribution rules ability to asses basic solutions regarding games designing (e.g. interface, level project, mechanics) linguistic skills within Humanities, particularly within the scope of audio-visual culture studies, on the level B2 SOCIAL COMPETENCES comprehension of the need of constant updating the knowledge and skills within the scope of Humanities, particularly including film studies and media studies awareness of the significance of discussion in order to solve questions related to film studies and media studies, as well as ability to work in a team of people ability to transfer the knowledge of film studies and media studies in order to analyse and comprehend other cultural phenomena awareness of variety of communication means in the public space; comprehension of the specificity of plagiarism as well as criminal liability for plagiarism the graduate identifies himself/herself to the recent history of Poland and recognizes himself/herself as its continuator; the graduate acquires competences in order to perform an educational and publishing activity oriented towards promotion of valuable works of culture, particularly including those which are part of Polish collective heritage participation in current cultural and scientific life; conscious as well as critical participation in the media space; the graduate is up to date with the most recent achievements of the completed field of studies
