Candidates must be graduates of at least a first-cycle programme in Slavonic Philology or Slavonic Cultural Studies), History, Ethnology or Political Science specialising in Slavonic Studies. They are ranked on the grounds of their final grade on graduation and an interview on the country of their chosen language. Graduates who complete the programme of study have acquired the learning outcomes specified in Resolution No. 34/III/2012 adopted by the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on 28th March 2012 on the introduction of learning outcomes for particular fields of study conducted at the Jagiellonian University as of the 2012/2013 academic year, with later amendments. Graduates hold the following qualifications as regards knowledge, skills, and social competences: KNOWLEDGE an advanced knowledge of the place and meaning of philology in the system of humanities, as well as of subjective and methodological specificity of the field of study an advanced and well-ordered knowledge of conceptual and terminology apparatus applied in selected sub-disciplines of philology an advanced and well-ordered knowledge of the area of the studied discipline awareness of the complex nature of language, awareness of its complexity as well as historical variability, knowledge of semiotic and linguistic competence an advanced knowledge of relations between the studied discipline and other disciplines of science within the area of humanities an advanced knowledge of selected directions of development as well as of achievements within sub-disciplines of the studied specialization an advanced knowledge of selected methods of analysis, interpretation as well as valuation of texts of culture within the studied discipline knowledge and comprehension of terms and principles of the intellectual property law as well as copyright law knowledge of institutions of culture as well as of contemporary cultural life SKILLS a practical as well as theoretical knowledge of specialization languages, corresponding to the level of the second cycle programme of studies, with linguistic skills within the A group of languages as stated for the level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (for the language of specialization) in selected specializations - linguistic skills as stated for the level B2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages regarding an additional foreign language ability to prepare in Polish or in the languages of specialization various written papers of both general and specialist character, regarding various areas of life and culture (including papers with characteristics of academic texts) ability to prepare as well as present on his/her own various speeches in Polish or in the language of specialization on a selected topic, applying the literature in the case of a specified specialities and A group languages specializations ability to translate texts both of general and specialist character or to teach a foreign language ability to search for, analyse, assess, select as well as to apply information, applying variety of Polish and foreign sources, ability to express critical opinions ability to acquire knowledge as well as to develop research skills on his/her own, within the scope of a speciality ability to express, analyse as well as to synthesise critically research problems within the scope of the studied discipline, ability to apply adequate methods and instruments in order to solve those problems and to present solutions of such problems with the appliance of variety of forms and methods ability to integrate knowledge of various disciplines of humanities, while solving problems regarding a selected speciality ability to recognize various types of texts of culture as well as to perform their advanced analysis and interpretation, applying various methods in order to determine their meaning, place in the historical and cultural process and social impact ability to argue substantially, applying views of other authors, as well as to express and synthesise conclusions ability to communicate and discuss areas of science studied within philology as a field of study, applying variety of communication techniques SOCIAL COMPETENCES comprehension of the need of life-long learning as well as of professional development ability to cooperate and work within a group, acting in various roles ability to define priorities when performing a given task comprehension of the necessity to obey principles of professional ethics, and following those principles awareness of the value of cultural heritage in its diversity as well as acting in order to preserve it participation in the cultural life in variety of its forms, applying various media, interest in new phenomena in culture
