Graduates who complete the programme of study have acquired the learning outcomes specified in Resolution No. 47/IV/2015 adopted by the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on 29th April 2015 on the introduction of learning outcomes for fields of study conducted at the Jagiellonian University as of the 2015/2016 academic year, as amended. Graduates hold the following qualifications as regards knowledge, skills, and social competences: KNOWLEDGE - An extended knowledge of the status and significance of Philology in the Humanities and its specifics as regards subject and methodology; - An extended, organised knowledge of the scope of conceptual and terminological resources used in the sub-disciplines of Philology; - An extended, organised knowledge of the scope of his/her discipline; - An appreciation of the complex nature of language and its historical variability; knowledge on sociolinguistic competence; - An extended knowledge of the relations between his/her specialisation and the other disciplines in the Humanities; - An extended knowledge of the main development trends and achievements in the sub-disciplines of his/her specialisation; - An extended knowledge and appreciation of selected method used to analyse, interpret, and assess texts relating to his/her discipline; - A knowledge and appreciation of the concepts and principles of the protection of intellectual property and copyright; - Knowledge on cultural institutions and contemporary cultural affairs. SKILLS - Practical proficiency in and theoretical knowledge at the required standard for the second-cycle programme of study of the language of his/her specialisation, viz. the C2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for his/her Group A language; - Linguistic skills as regards an additional foreign language; - Ability to prepare both in Polish, and in the language of a specialisation various written studies of general and specialist character, which refer to various areas of life and culture (including studies which can be classified as academic texts); - Ability to independently prepare as well as present various types of speeches both in Polish, and in the language of a specialisation on a chosen topic, applying the literature; - In the case of specified specialties and specialisations ability to translate texts of general or specialist character, or teach a foreign language; - Ability to find, analyse, assess, select, and apply information, using a variety of Polish and foreign-language sources and formulating critical observations; - Ability to acquire knowledge on his/her own and develop his/her research skills in his/her specialisation; - Ability to formulate, analyse, and synthesise research problems in his/her discipline, employing a critical approach, and to select appropriate methods and instruments for their resolution; ability to present the results of his/her research using a variety of forms and methods; - Ability to integrate knowledge from various disciplines in the Humanities for the resolution of research problems in his/her specialisation; - Ability to identify the various types of texts relating to culture, and to analyse and interpret them at an advanced level, in order to determine their meaning, their place in culture and history, and their social impact; - Ability to conduct an objective argument using the opinions of other authors and formulating conclusions; - Ability to communicate and discuss in various assemblies on academic areas studies within the field of study Modern Languages, applying various communication techniques. SOCIAL COMPETENECES - Appreciation of the need for the continuous development of his/her skills and professional qualifications; - A capacity for team-work, performing a variety of tasks within the group; - Ability to identify the priorities in the particular task he/she is to achieve; - Appreciation of the need to observe professional ethics and abide by its principles; - An appreciation of the value of cultural legacy in its diversity; and a sense of responsibility for its preservation; - Participation in cultural affairs, with the use of a variety of its media and forms; interest in new cultural phenomena
