Professional status:

Graduates of the second cycle programme of study in Astronomy have received an education in issues in contemporary astronomy at an extended level, and also in a selected specialist field. Jagiellonian University Astronomy graduates are qualified for employment in astronomical observatories, planetariums, astronomical and meteorological institutions, teams involved in satellite observations, and research groups conducting international research projects. Those Astronomy graduates who have completed a teacher training course in compliance with the relevant ordinance issued by the Polish Minister of Higher Education on teacher training standards also hold the qualifications required to teach in schools. Graduates of the second-cycle programme of study in Astronomy are qualified to apply for admission to the third-cycle (doctoral) programme of study.
