Admissions

Admission criteria

Undergraduate (first-cycle and long-cycle) programmes

Online registration at the www.erk.uj.edu.pl website is required for all candidates.

In admissions to undergraduate programmes, candidate’s final results is calculated on the basis of their Matura exam results (or on the basis of an equivalent foreign examinations or diploma). Sometimes candidates need to take part in an entrance exam.

For all programmes in Polish, a set of Matura exam subjects is chosen which will be taken into consideration in admissions. There is a different selection of subjects for each programme, so you should always check which subjects are considered in admissions to your programme of choice. As a rule, if the candidate does not have a result from one of the subjects, their result from that subject is set to 0, but they may still apply for admissions (however, there are exceptions from this rule as some programmes may formally require a specific result from a specific subject). The 2018/2019 admissions is the last year when Matura results on basic level are considered at the JU.[AP1]

Often subjects are grouped and only a specific number of results from a given group is taken into account. Subjects are also assigned weights, reflecting how important the result from a given subjects in the calculation of the final result.

The final result is calculated as a weighted average of Matura results from subjects indicated in the qualification criteria: result from each subject is multiplied by its weight, this results are added up, and then divided by the sum of the highest weights from all groups.

Please note that the admission requirements may be very different in case of programmes in languages other than Polish.

Graduate (second-cycle programmes)

Online registration at the www.erk.uj.edu.pl website is required for all candidates.

Various elements may be taken into account in admission to the graduate (second-cycle) programmes: grade average, diploma final grade, grade from the diploma dissertation, or diploma examination, but there may also be entrance exams required: written exams, tests, or interviews.

Each programme has its own set of elements that make up the final result, and each element is marked with the percentage of the final result it constitutes.

Please pay attention to the formal requirements, set separately for each programme: often only graduates from specified types of undergraduate programmes may take part in graduate admissions.

Please note that the admission requirements may be very different in case of programmes in languages other than Polish.
